Registration for Penn TESOL East's 2013 Fall Conference at Penn State Abington is now closed . It is advised that you arrive as early as possible to check-in. Registration opens at 8 A.M. in the Lares Building and sessions begin at 9 A.M. We will accept checks and exact cash from members who pre-registered but still need to pay conference fees and those renewing membership. We regret that due to a high number of advanced registrations we will not be able to take walk-in registrations this year.

Plenary Speaker: Dr. Suzanne Panferov, Ph.D
“Ready, Set, Shine: Attributes of Amazing English Language Teachers”
Suzanne Panferov is the Director of the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) at the University of Arizona, Interim Director of the National Center for Interpretation, as well as a faculty member in the M.A. ESL Program and Ph.D. program in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching (SLAT). Panferov completed her graduate studies at The Ohio State University, earning both a Ph.D. and M.A. in Foreign and Second Language Education and an M.A. in Russian Literature. Panferov’s research focuses on language program administration, professional development, teacher training, pedagogy, and literacy acquisition. She currently serves as Past President (2011-2014) of the TESOL International Association Board of Directors and has served on the TESOL Board of Directors (2008-2011).
Plenary abstract: English language teaching requires professional skills, content knowledge, and language proficiency, but to excel at teaching requires much more. In this talk, Panferov presents on the attributes that students and teachers as well as researchers in the field identify as the distinguishing characteristics of great English teachers and analyzes the impact of these attributes in teacher development.
When will you be notified? This year there are two deadlines and two notification deadlines. If you submit by Friday, September 13th you will receive notification by September 30th. The Final Deadline is Friday, October 18th; and those that submit between September 14th and October 18th will receive notification by October 30th.
Submissions must be made via the online form. Emailed and paper submissions will not be accepted.
Notifications will be sent out to the email that you put on your proposal.
