    ESL Lecturers for Summer/Fall Programs

    We are looking for qualified and talented teachers for a variety of classes.


    DUTIES

    Prepare for and teach ESL courses as assigned and in accordance with curricular guidelines; inform students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies; maintain records of student attendance and academic progress/achievement, and submit them according to deadlines; attend faculty meetings as scheduled; assume other duties, which will vary according to the program in which the appointment is held.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Master’s degree in TESOL preferred, or closely-related field, plus teaching experience in university-based ESL programs similar to the University of Pennsylvania’s ELP. Minimum qualifications: substantial coursework at the graduate level in TESOL or related field plus teaching experience. Compensation is commensurate with credentials and experience and with length/intensity of program.


    APPOINTMENT TERMS

    These are part-time appointments for the duration of the session. New Teacher Orientation will be held a few days prior to the start of the program.

    Intensive Program (IP): Summer 2 Session: June 29 – August 14, 2016; Fall 1 Session: August 31 – October 21, 2016

    Institute for Business Communication (IBC): July 11 – August 5, 2016 and/or August 1 – August 26, 2016

    International Business Communication for Professionals – Advance Speakers (IBCP-A): July 11 – August 5, 2016

    International Teaching Assistant Training Program (ITA): June 27 – August 17, 2016

    Delaware Technical Community College is now accepting applications for two permanent, full-time positions at its Wilmington and Stanton Campus. One is ESL and the other is ESL+Spanish.  Both positions will commence in August, 2016.

    Basic Duties for ESL-Only position: 
    • 15 contact (classroom) hours per semester in the beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels of a community college IEP and/or college EAP-level credit-bearing courses.
    •  3 semester hours of advisement.
    • Curriculum revision and design at course and program level.
    • Program review and improvement.


    Basic Duties for ESL + Spanish position:
    • 15 contact (classroom) hours per semester in college IEP and credit Spanish courses (generally a split schedule).
    • 3 semester hours of advisement.
    • Curriculum revision and design at course and program level.
    • Program review and improvement.

    Minimum Requirements:  Bachelors Degree in a relevant field and four years of relevant full-time experience.
    Experience and/or interest in the following areas is preferred but not required:
    Hybrid and/or online language instruction, use language learning technology, content-based instruction and learning communities, pathway development and teaching, competency-based teaching and assessment.

    Our annual summer camp is looking for 2 ESL teachers for a group of Chinese high school students this summer.
    Dates: July 18th (Monday) to July 22nd (Friday)
    Time: 9:00am-11:30am
    Location: UPenn campus
    Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree or higher in the field of education, or currently pursuing Master’s or higher degree
    • Ability to plan and adapt the curriculum to students’ needs
    • Ability to motivate and encourage students to speak and use English
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-functioning team
    • Ability to communicate clearly, and to be mature and understanding with team members
    • Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and exceptional enthusiasm

    Responsibilities
    • Teach 15-20 Chinese students every morning through the camp

    Cairn University, School of Education

    Part-time Faculty Member - TESOL

     

    The School of Education is accepting applications for a part-time faculty position.  The university seeks to fill the position byJuly 1, 2016.   Applications will be accepted until April 30, 2016.

     

    Candidates should be prepared to teach a part-time load (a minimum of 18 credits per academic year) in both undergraduate and/or graduate courses.  Courses include Cultural and Linguistic Diversity, Introduction to Second Language Acquisition, Language Fundamentals, and TESOL Methods and Materials. This position is also responsible for TESOL program advising, which entails advising students who are adding TESOL certification, ensuring that the curriculum adheres to state requirements for TESOL certification, and supervision of students during their TESOL practicum.   Other responsibilities include engagement with students at extracurricular events. 

     

    The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a master's degree in one of the following:  TESOL; Language Education with a specialization in TESOL; Applied Linguistics with a specialization in TESOL; or similar credentials.  At least three years of university-level teaching experience is preferable.  Experience teaching K-12 and adult ESL is required.  Applicants who also have experience training ESL teachers, overseas experience, and acquaintance with PA ESL-specialist regulations are preferred. Candidates for the position would be required to abide by the standards of conduct and professional guidelines of the University and be in agreement with the University’s Statement of Faith. Candidates must be able to articulate and incorporate into their field of teaching a biblically-centered worldview.
