Duties
Prepare for and teach ESL courses as assigned and in accordance with curricular guidelines; inform students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies; maintain records of student attendance and academic progress/achievement, and submit them according to deadlines; attend faculty meetings as scheduled; assume other duties, which will vary according to the program in which the appointment is held.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in TESOL preferred, or closely-related field, plus teaching experience in university-based ESL programs similar to the University of Pennsylvania’s ELP. Minimum qualifications: substantial coursework at the graduate level in TESOL or related field plus teaching experience. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Appointment Terms
These are part-time appointments for the duration of Spring and/or Summer sessions. New Teacher Orientation will occur before the start of classes.

The International Center for Academic and Professional English (ICAPE) at Lehigh University comprises a dynamic group of instructors and administrators committed to excellence and best practices in English language instruction and ongoing support for multilingual speakers of English at the graduate and undergraduate levels of education. ICAPE programming includes advanced level credit courses, non-credit intensive English courses, the ITA program, and year-round tutoring and workshops. The Language Specialist job is a full-time exempt Instructional Staff position with responsibilities that cross all areas of ICAPE’s programs including curriculum development, instruction, assessment, administrative responsibilities, and professional development activities. Penn State Abington, Division of Arts and Humanities, seeks a committed and energetic scholar-administrator to lead initiatives for our multilingual student population, including Academic Integration Courses(AIC) and the Applied Linguistics programs(TESOL minor and ESL Specialist Certificate). The successful candidate for this position will: direct the AIC program; coordinate with AIC's teaching and administrative partners; manage placement of new students; support and mentor faculty, and teach one course per semester.
